History

An independent Urban and Regional Planning degree programme granting an engineering diploma as final qualification was established in 1972. Just two years later, the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning was founded. The Institute’s aim was to combine technical, social, economic, legal and planning principles in an integrated qualification responding to the multidimensional tasks of planning in practice.

Nowadays at TU Berlin urban and regional planners are trained in corresponding Bachelor’s and Master's degree programmes.
